D'Urville Island is much larger than most people think.
We recommend staying a night or two on the island to allow for an unrushed, relaxing holiday on this tranquil island.
There is only one DOC campground that is vehicle accessible on the island. This is the Lake Moawhitu Campground in Greville Harbour. This campground is situated at the North end of the lake and is a large free basic campground. There is a long drop toilet, tap with running water (must be boiled before drinking), and a large shed that can be used to get out of the weather.
The D'Urville Island Community Hall - this is central to the island and is located within the scenic reserve. The Hall has a bunk room, large lounge/common room with a table tennis table and fire, toilets and showers, full kitchen (fridge, oven, microwave, etc). Contact Sue Savage for all Community Hall Enquires and Bookings 03 5765170.
D'Urville Island Wilderness Resort - the Wilderness Resort is located in Catherine Cove. We can barge you directly to Catherine Cove, or you can access it via a proper 4x4 track, however, the track can be weather dependant and we recommend contacting them before attempting to go down it (03 5765268). The Wilderness Resort has accommodation units, as well as a fully licensed bar and cafe. They also offer fishing charters.
